As someone who has a phobia of all things medical I find a visit to the surgery to be the least stressfull any medical appointment could ever be.
The reception staff are all very welcoming and able to provide information requested as soon as possible.
The waiting room is always very clean and the tv screen showing different medical/surgery information is a great idea. It is sometimes better to see things in a kinetic way rather than just looking at a raft of leaflets/posters.
I've been a patient at Llandaff since I started university in 2007, since having freshers flu I've gone on to have a baby and continued care through the surgery. The reception team and doctors are all professional yet approachable. Special Mention to Emma Cain - the best nurse you could ever wish for. I would have no hesitation in recommending this practice.
This is a busy medical practice that serves its patients very well indeed, providing excellent care all round.
Its response is tailored to needs. You can get an instant (same day) appointment if you need it. You can book ahead for less urgent matters and the triage system (which includes the chance to have a telephone conversation with a doctor, if that is appropriate) works effectively.
The standard of medical nursing and other care is uniformly very good and reception staff deserve high praise for their efficiency and attentiveness.
I've been a patient at Llandaff North Medical Centre since 2006. All the doctors (and nurses) I've seen over the years have been fantastic. They take a real interest in my health, and they always involve me in decisions about my health. This was a new experience for me. The doctors at this practice discuss possible diagnoses and treatments with me, and if there is something they don't know or are not entirely sure about, they are completely open about it. It really encourages me to trust the doctor.
One of the doctors at this practice (Dr Black) saved my son's life by quickly diagnosing (and arranging treatment for) his Hodgkins Lymphoma (cancer). He is now in full remission, and living a normal healthy life.
I also owe my health (if not my life) to one of the doctors at this surgery - Dr Dayananda (now retired). After 7+ years of suffering from undiagnosed Coeliac disease, I had the good fortune to move to this surgery after moving house. Instead of just putting me back on iron tablets (as my previous doctor had done) Dr Dayananda recognised that Coeliac disease was a possible cause, and ran a simple blood test. What a difference it made to my life!
Although it can take a week or so to book a routine appointment to see a doctor, I have never failed to see a doctor the same day when I need to see one in an emergency. The appointment system appears to work really well.
Llandaff North Medical Centre has a good-sized car park, and is conveniently located next door to the finest pharmacy in Cardiff.
My appointment was non-urgent and when I booked I was given a selection of dates and times. The surgery is extremely accessible, very clean with the addition of a new information screen which prompted me to register for a text reminder for the future. My GP, Dr Rothwell came to meet me, listened intently to my concerns and was extremely attentive and informative. She shared the screen with me which made me feel involved in my care and we agreed a plan of action together.
I cannot recommend this practice highly enough as this was not an isolated experience. Thankfully I only need to attend infrequently but I always feel that my opinion is valued as am I. The practice staff are to be highly commended as I can't think of anything more that they could do to improve the service
